How This Calculator Works
This calculator uses your full birth date, the month, the day and the year. Each part is reduced to a single digit by adding its own digits together, then the three resulting digits are added and reduced again until one digit is left. There is one exception. Master numbers break that rule. If a step lands on 11, 22 or 33, it stays put and never gets reduced any further.

Master Numbers, 11, 22, 33
If your month, day or year reduces to 11, 22 or 33, this calculator keeps it there instead of collapsing it into a single digit. These are master numbers, and they carry the traits of the digit they would otherwise become (11 becomes 2, 22 becomes 4, 33 becomes 6) at a more demanding level.
Plenty of people with a master number live closer to the lower digit for years at a stretch, so it helps to treat the master number as a ceiling more than a guarantee. If your result came out 11, 22 or 33, read the page written for that specific number, Life Path 11, Life Path 22, or Life Path 33.
What the Result Can and Cannot Tell You
Your Life Path Number points to a pattern, the kind of decisions, work and relationships that tend to suit you, and the lessons that keep resurfacing. It cannot predict a specific event, and it will not tell you who to marry or which job to accept. Hold it up against your own experience and see what actually fits.
If the page for your number reads nothing like you, check your date and your method before assuming the system missed. A birth date entered wrong, or a total reduced by the wrong route, is a far more common explanation than a bad match.
Two Methods, and Why the Numbers Sometimes Disagree
There are two common ways to calculate a Life Path Number. The method used on this site reduces the month, the day and the year on their own, then adds those three digits together. Other calculators add every digit of the full date at once, without reducing the month, day and year first. For most birth dates, both routes land on the same number.
For a smaller set of dates, they disagree, usually because the all-at-once method skips past a master number that the segmented method catches, or the reverse happens and it produces an 11 or 22 that the segmented method never reaches. This site uses the segmented method because it is the one most numerology teachers treat as standard, and because it keeps master numbers where the math actually puts them, without erasing one or inventing one by accident.
